Assignment 1- Task 5- Understand the techniques of music videos

I used different techniques when shooting the footage. I used 4 different shots which was a long shot, close up shot, then a low shot from the left and a low shot from the right to show each of our faces. All these shots were chosen after different angles that we experimented with, we thought that these were the best angles. Many takes were needed because lyrics were forgotten or the shot was not the right one because the lighting was too much of a change. The director told my peer and I to look like we are in love because of the song also not too look directly into the camera so it creates a better atmosphere. The way we made myself and my peer look realistic is by actually singing to the song so that the lip syncing was perfectly matched and looked good when put together. Also, the director had told us that we needed to be more in love so it did not look awkward. 

When I edited this short music video I used 4 different shots and put them together. I think that I should have filmed more different shots to show a variety of angles in the music video. While the music was playing I had marked the music line by pressing the letter 'm' so I can edit to the beat well. To lip sync the footage well I had put the clips together and put the music on as well. To make the lips match the singing I had moved the clips around and listen to the music to see if it matches well. After a while I had managed to get the lip syncing perfect and it looked really well put together.

I have used all these techniques successfully because the lip syncs really well with the music, it looks like they are singing the song themselves. Editing to the beat was successfully done because when the music changes to a bit lower the shot changes to a close shot, then when Elton John starts singing the shot changes again to a long shot. Most of the time a new line is sung the shot changes to show how I can edit to the beat well. I successfully made the performance look realistic because I tried to act romantic to be able to show the romance between Elton John and Kiki Dee. I think that I could have used a few more different shots to show how I can use the camera in a variety of ways. Also, I think that I should have concentrated more to be able to film the clips quicker without there being any mistakes or problems.
